Trillian: AIM Error Code: 10054
After a recent automatic update of Trillian, I was unable to connect to AIM. The console stated:
Error Code: 10054
After searching around and trying a bunch of things, I was unable to re-connect until I found the following in the Trillian Technical Support Forum:
- Click Trillian > Connections > Manage My Connections.
- Select your AIM account, click Change button.
- Under the Connection tab in the Server section, click Reset, then Save Settings.
- Click Trillian > Trillian Preferences > Plugins.
- Disable AIM & ICQ by unchecking it.
- Re-enable AIM & ICQ by checking it.
- Click Close.
- Click Trillian > Connections > Global Reconnect.
This worked for me and I was able to connect to AIM once again.

Thank you, this also solved my problem after tossing in a Trillian restart. I might have been enough to restart after step 7, but I had already done 1-8 and it had not worked. So, I repeated step 5, then exited Trillian, then did step 6 after starting Trillian again and it worked. There are probably a couple unrelated possible fixes here (step 3, and then steps 5/6), each of which may help different folks. But if the steps do not work for you as above, throw in some restarts too. Also keep in mind that if you have failed too many times, you will have to wait more than 15 minutes for your account to reset to see if you fix worked.
